I paused my Arabic speaking sessions for about three months. Not because I stopped caring about the language, but because work got heavy, contract work kept moving, home kept moving, and life with three children, including a six-month-old, does not leave many quiet corners untouched.
The uncomfortable part is that a skill does not pause just because your calendar does. Speaking confidence decays quietly. The words are still somewhere in your head, but the path to them gets slower when you stop walking it.
I am trying to restart with a smaller promise instead of waiting for the old routine to become possible again. Thirty consistent minutes is better than a perfect schedule that never arrives. Maintenance is part of learning. The cadence that survives real life is the cadence that counts.
